    Kach outlawed as a terrorist organization after the Hebron massacre

    After Kach supporter Baruch Goldstein murdered 29 Palestinian worshippers at the Cave of the Patriarchs in Hebron on 25 February 1994 — and Kach figures praised it — the Israeli cabinet outlawed Kach and Kahane Chai as terrorist organizations in March 1994 under anti-terror law. The Kahanist current nonetheless persisted and re-entered the Knesset decades later via Otzma Yehudit.

    Kach barred from the 1988 election as racist

    Ahead of the November 1988 election, Kach was disqualified from running under the amended Knesset Elections Law banning parties that incite racism; the Supreme Court upheld the ban, finding the party's aims and actions "manifestly racist" — the first use of the racism clause to exclude a party.

    Meir Kahane founds the ultranationalist Kach party

    Rabbi Meir Kahane founded Kach in 1971 on a Jewish-supremacist, anti-Arab platform that called for halakha as state law in a Greater Israel and the expulsion or subordinated residency of Arabs. After repeated failures it won a single Knesset seat in 1984.
