Arab League grants Syria's seat to the opposition Coalition

On 6 March 2013 the Arab League awarded Syria's seat to the Syrian National Coalition, and numerous states, the EU and Gulf monarchies recognized it as the legitimate representative of the Syrian people — the high point of the political opposition's international standing, though it never translated into control on the ground.
