Lieberman resigns as defense minister over the Gaza ceasefire

On 14 November 2018 Yisrael Beiteinu leader Avigdor Lieberman resigned as defense minister in protest at the Netanyahu government's ceasefire with Hamas after a major escalation in Gaza, calling it "capitulation to terror," and pulled his party from the coalition. The move stripped the government of its majority and set Israel on the path to the April 2019 election and the prolonged electoral deadlock that followed.
