Rabin signs the Oslo Accords with the PLO

On 13 September 1993, Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin signed the Oslo Declaration of Principles on the White House lawn and shook hands with Yasser Arafat, granting mutual Israeli–PLO recognition and creating the Palestinian Authority. The most consequential peace move of his career — and a sharp break for a career soldier and security hawk — it won him the 1994 Nobel Peace Prize, shared with Arafat and Peres.
