National Charter Party becomes the largest pro-government bloc in Jordan's 2024 election

In Jordan's 10 September 2024 parliamentary election — the first under the 2022 political-parties law that reserved a national party list — the National Charter Party (Hizb al-Mithaq al-Watani), founded in 2022 by monarchy loyalists, former MPs and retired officers, won 21 seats. It finished second overall behind the Islamic Action Front (31) but became the largest pro-government / centrist party bloc in the 138-seat 20th lower house, where party-affiliated members took ~75% of seats.
